Announced NortonLifeLock / Avast merger inquiry
On 19 January 2022, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) announced an inquiry into the merger between NortonLifeLock Inc. and Avast plc. The two cybersecurity companies intend to merge to create a business selling online security software. Particularly, the CMA will consider whether such a consolidation would lead to a substantial lessening of competition within any UK market. Public comments are welcome until 2 February 2022.
