Description

Adopted Personal Data Protection Law including cybersecurity requirements

On 14 May 2022, the Personal Data Protection Law was adopted by the Cuban National Assembly (Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular). The Bill states that entities collecting and storing personal data have to implement preventive and responsive security measures to ensure the protection of the data they collect. Furthermore, the Bill requires the implementation of technical measures to allow for the processing of personal data in electronic form. Finally, the entities will be obliged to notify the authorities of data breaches.
