Germany: Proposed criminal law amendment includes new offense for child sexual abuse material

On 12 May 2021, the German federal government published its draft proposal aiming at introducing criminal liability for the distribution and possession of instructions on the sexual abuse of children. The Bill aims to combat the rise in the distribution of such material on the Internet, especially on the DarkWeb. Furthermore, individuals possessing and distributing such type of information will face imprisonment for up to three years.
