On 1 January 2025, the Amendment to the Regulation of Electronic Commerce Law is implemented. According to the Act, intermediary service providers for e-commerce presenting a net transaction volume of TRY10 billion and intermediating more than 100,000 transactions in a calendar year (excluding refunds and cancellations) would have to obtain or renew an e-commerce licence. The licence fee would be calculated according to the providers' net transaction volume. Violations of the Act would be fined up to TRY 20 million and given a period to rectify the violation. In case of non-compliance, or if the violation is not remedied, access to the website may be blocked by the Ministry.
