On 12 March 2022, Turkish President Erdoğan announced the new Economic Reform Package, which includes an amendment to the Regulation of Electronic Commerce Law. According to the bill, intermediary service providers for e-commerce presenting a net transaction volume of 10 billion Turkish liras and intermediating more than 100,000 transactions in a calendar year (excluding refunds and cancellations) would have to obtain or renew an e-commerce licence. The licence fee would be calculated according to the providers' net transaction volume.
