India: Adopted order blocking 43 mobile applications

On 24 November 2020, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) issued an order blocking 43 mobile applications, including AliExpress and Lalamove India- Delivery App.The MEITY noted that the mobile applications stole and transmitted the personal data of Indian users to servers outside the country without prior authorization. Furthermore, the MEITY stated that the data transfer represents a threat to India's sovereignty, integrity and the privacy of its citizens. Resultantly, MEITY banned the usage of the mobile applications detailed in the Appendix of the Order in mobile and non-mobile Internet-enabled devices.
