On 4 October 2019, the Government of Indonesia issues Government Regulation 71 (GR 71/2019). The Regulation amends GR 82/2012 and introduces a classification of Electronic System Operators (ESO) in Public and Private. All ESO (public and private) are required to register with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo). Particularly, ESO must provide a translated deed of establishment and obtain legal approval from the Indonesian consulate. Moreover, the operators must comply with current regulations by interrupting the hosting of unlawful content and providing access to electronic systems for the purposes of criminal law enforcement. These provisions will be implemented on 4 October 2020.
