Description

Implemented Government Regulation 71/2019 regulating data localisation for public ESPs

On 4 October 2021, the provisions of Government Regulation 71 (GR 71/2019) setting out data localisation requirements for Public ESPs were implemented. The Regulation revokes GR 82/2012 and introduces a classification of Electronic System Providers (ESP) in Public and Private. Public ESPs are required to be located in Indonesia. Private ESPs can be placed outside Indonesia but they should allow supervision by the Indonesian authorities, for which data access must be granted.
