Introduced Bill amending the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act

On 19 February 2021, the Bill amending Biometric Information Privacy Act (Bill SB 0300) was introduced at the Senate. The Bill changes the definition of "biometric information" and "written consent" and provides specifications of rights of action and proceedings against private entities. Moreover, the act eliminates the fixed maximum amount of damages that can be requested in case of violation of the prescriptions related to the treatment of biometric data.
