On 3 July 2019, the Competition and Markets Unit started an inquiry on the Online Platforms and Digital Advertising Market. Particularly, the Unit opened a consultation on how online platforms gain market power, the impact of such market power on consumers, the consumers' capacity and willingness to control how their data is used and collected and whether competition in the digital advertising market sector is distorted by the platforms' market power. The consultation will be closed on 30 July 2019.
