Description

Senate postpones amendment to House Bill 2005 that changes rules for app stores

After the Arizona House had adopted the amendment on 3 March 2021, the Arizona Senate does not vote on the amendment of House Bill 2005, which would regulate app stores without giving an explanation for the non-vote. The Bill would impose changes on mobile app stores above the threshold of 1 million downloads by Arizona-based users. Specifically, the Bill would allow alternative in-app payment systems and prohibit any sort of retaliation against app developers that use a different payment system. Possible wrongdoings could either be prosecuted by the Attorney General or be commenced through civil action by a person aggrieved by the violation.
