Introduced California Bill regarding child user addiction

On 17 February 2022, the California Assembly Bill 2408 "Child users: Addiction" was introduced to the California House. The bill would introduce liability for social media companies with over USD 100 million in gross revenue regarding addictive features for minors aged 17 or below. Companies can prevent liability by either removing additive features or conducting regular audits to identify and remove such features. Furthermore, the bill would allow parents to sue social media platforms for up to USD 25'000 USD per violation.
