On 7 June 2022, the transparency obligation outlined in Article 19 of the Directive on copyright and related rights in the Digital Single Market take effect. The Directive was adopted on 6 June 2019 after being published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 15 May 2019. Article 19 states that the Member States should ensure that authors and performers licensing or transferring their copyrights receive at least once a year information regarding the exploitation of their works. Authors and performers must receive information on the modes of exploitation of their work, revenues generated and remuneration due.
