On 14 September 2016, the European Commission published a proposal for a Directive on copyright and related rights in the Digital Single Market. The proposed directive would require producers and publishers to be more transparent with the content right-holders regarding the performance of their work. The entities acquiring the authorization for distribution of copyright-protected work would have to share information on the revenue generated and performance data. Furthermore, the Directive proposes a contract-adjustment mechanism, which includes fair remuneration requirements and an alternative dispute resolution mechanism to be set voluntarily.
