Closed consultation on Digital Content Platforms Regulations containing registration requirement

On 25 March 2022, the public consultation on the updated version of the Digital Content Platforms Regulation draft issued by the Saudi Arabia Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) closed. The draft introduces a registration requirement for OTT Video platforms, Social Media platforms, VIdeo-sharing platforms and e-sports participation platforms. The Regulation draft specifies that online advertising platforms are not required to register but will have to comply with the national requirements regarding content and data protection regulations. Moreover, the proposal introduces application and renewal fees to comply with the registration requirements.
