Turkiye: Law on Amendments to Social Services Law and Certain Laws (Law No. 7578) including local operations requirement for foreign game platforms enters into force

On 30 April 2026, the President signed the Law on Amendments to the Social Services Law and Certain Laws (Law No. 7578). Foreign-based game platforms with daily access from Turkey exceeding 100'000 are required to designate a natural or legal person representative to handle communications, notifications, and requests from Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), and judicial and administrative authorities, and to ensure the fulfilment of the platform's other obligations under Law No. 5651 on the Regulation of Publications on the Internet and Combating Crimes Committed Through Such Publications. The platform is required to notify BTK of the representative's details, and to publish the representative's contact information prominently and in directly accessible form on the platform's website. Articles 22 and 23 of Law No. 7578 enter into force 6 months after publication in the Official Gazette.
