Bill on amendments to social services law and certain other laws including local operations requirement for foreign game platforms was introduced to Grand National Assembly

On 4 March 2026, the Bill on Amendments to the Social Services Law and Certain Other Laws (Bill No. 263), including a local operations requirement for foreign game platforms, was introduced to the Grand National Assembly. Article 23 of the Bill would add Additional Article 5 to Law No. 5651 on the Regulation of Publications on the Internet and Combating Crimes Committed Through Such Publications. Foreign-based game platforms with daily access from Türkiye exceeding 100'000 would be required to designate a natural or legal person representative in Türkiye to handle communications, notifications, and requests from BTK, the Union, and judicial and administrative authorities, and to ensure the fulfilment of the platform's other obligations under Law No. 5651. The platform would be required to notify BTK of the representative's details and to publish the representative's contact information prominently and in directly accessible form on the platform's website.
