Introduced Maine Act To Protect Consumers' Privacy (LD 1982)
The "Act To Protect Consumers' Privacy by Giving Them Greater Control of Their Data and To Establish Consumer Protections Regarding Small Dollar Loans" (LD 1982/SP 713) is introduced in the Maine Senate. The bill would introduce the consumers' rights to request personal information access and deletion. Moreover, the bill would allow consumers to opt-out from the sale of personal data and bring civil action to recover damages in the case of unauthorised access to personal information due to the failure of protective measures enacted by the data controller.
