On 5 February 2026, the United States and Argentina signed the Reciprocal Trade and Investment Agreement, which includes cross-border data transfer regulations. Under the agreement, Argentina committed to recognising the United States as a jurisdiction providing adequate data protection for cross-border data transfers purposes. Further, Argentina agreed to submit its letter of intent to participate as an Associate in the Global Cross-Border Privacy Rules Forum and to participate in the Global Cooperation Arrangement for Privacy Enforcement. Argentina also agreed to recognise electronic signatures under the US legal system as valid under Argentine law.
