Roskomnadzor blocks access to Instagram due to alleged calls for “violence against Russians”
On 14 March 2022, the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media (Roskomnadzor) started restricting access to Instagram, following a request received on 11 March 2022 from the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation. Roskomnadzor noted that the decision to block access to the platform is due to the distribution of materials on Instagram containing “calls to commit violent acts against citizens of the Russian Federation”.
