Description

Memorandum of Cooperation on mutual recognition of Internet of Things cybersecurity schemes enters into force

On 1 June 2026, the Memorandum of Cooperation adopted by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry to mutually recognise their Internet of Things (IoT) cybersecurity labelling schemes enters into force. The arrangement applies to manufacturers of smart devices, including home assistants, automation systems, and IoT hubs, allowing products certified under Singapore’s CLS or Japan’s JC-STAR to obtain recognition in the other jurisdiction through a streamlined process. The cooperation seeks to reduce duplicative certification requirements, facilitate market access, strengthen cybersecurity standards and enhance consumer confidence.
