Description

Fair Trade Commission closes consultation on amendments to the Enforcement Rules of the Act on Consumer Protection in E-Commerce including business closure reporting

On 20 April 2026, the Fair Trade Commission closes the public consultation on proposed amendments to the Enforcement Rules of the Act on Consumer Protection in E-Commerce. The amendments would follow up on the Act on Consumer Protection in E-Commerce, etc. (Act No. 21312), promulgated on 20 January 2026. Attached Form No. 5 (notification of suspension, closure, or resumption of business) would be revised to allow mail-order businesses reporting closure to record the reason for loss or damage of the registration certificate directly on the closure report, removing the requirement to submit a separate statement of reasons. The Enforcement Rules of the Act on Consumer Protection in E-Commerce would take effect on 21 July 2026.
