On 12 February 2026, the Office of Communications (Ofcom) issued a provisional notice of contravention to 4chan Community Support under section 130 of the Online Safety Act 2023. Ofcom believes the provider may have failed to comply with its duties under sections 9, 10, and 12 of the Act, including conducting a sufficient illegal content risk assessment, meeting obligations in its Terms of Service, and protecting children from accessing pornographic content through effective age assurance. The notice outlines Ofcom’s provisional view and proposed actions. 4chan Community Support has 10 working days to submit representations, which will be considered before a final decision is made. Updates on the investigation will be provided in due course.
