On 4 February 2026, the Minister of the Economy, Finance, and Industrial, Energy, and Digital Sovereignty adopted the Decree No. 2026-60 on the experimentation of games with monetisable digital objects. The decree was issued pursuant to Articles 40 and 41 of Law No. 2024-449 of 21 May 2024 on securing and regulating the digital space, and it provides that it enters into force the day after publication. It establishes a three-year experimental regime for online games, allowing adult players who have made a financial contribution to obtain monetisable digital objects through a chance-based mechanism, with no possibility of monetary gain. Any legal person intending to offer such games to the public must submit a prior declaration to the National Gaming Authority (ANJ). The declaration must include the legal person’s identification details, company name, trade names, registered office, and legal form, and designate the persons responsible for ensuring the games comply with applicable rules.
