Ministry of Family and Social Services drafted omnibus bill including social media regulation for children under 15

On 5 January 2026, the Ministry of Family and Social Services announced that a draft omnibus bill addressing social media use by children under 15 has been prepared. The bill is expected to be sent to the relevant committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly by the end of January 2026, following its discussion at a Cabinet Meeting held at the Presidential Palace. Under the draft bill, social network providers would be prohibited from offering services to, or creating accounts for, children under 15. The bill would also require these providers to implement filtering systems to prevent children from being exposed to harmful content.
