National Communications Authority opened consultation on Value Added Services (VAS) Guidelines

On 6 January 2026, the National Communications Authority opened a public consultation, until 4 February 2026, on the draft Value Added Services (VAS) Guidelines. The draft guidelines intended to clarify the regulatory framework for the provision of Value Added Services in Ghana, including the interpretation, classification, registration and, where applicable, licensing of Value Added Services under the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775) and the Electronic Communications Regulations, 2011 (LI 1991). The consultation is conducted under section 3(r) of the National Communications Authority Act, 2008 (Act 769) and Section 27 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775). It invites submissions from Licensed Telecom Network Service Providers, Value Added Service Providers, other Licensed Communications Service Providers, broadcasters, consumers of Information and Communication Technology services, and the general public. Following the consultation, the National Communications Authority will finalise and gazette the Value Added Services (VAS) Guidelines.
