On 8 November 2021, China's State Administration for Market Supervision (SAMR) closed the consultation on the Guidelines for Implementing Subject Responsibilities on Internet Platforms (Draft). The draft guidelines detail the responsibilities of internet platforms depending on their classification according to the Guidelines for Classification and Grading of Internet Platforms (Draft). For example, companies classified as super platforms on account of having more than 500 million active annual users, a range of services, and a market value of over 1 trillion yuan will have additional responsibilities, for example in the areas of fair competition and data security.
