China: Supervision and Management Measures for Online Trading Platforms including content moderation regulation enter into force

On 1 February 2026, the Supervision and Management Measures for Online Trading Platforms enter into force. The Supervision and Management Measures for Online Trading Platforms include content moderation regulations for online trading platforms. Article 18 of the Measures require platforms to formulate platforms rules which regulate online trading platforms such that they do not violate laws, business ethics, public order, or good customs. If platforms provide information publishing services, Article 23 further prohibits the creation, copying, publication, or dissemination of illegal information and take measures to prevent the creation, publishing, and dissemination of illegal information.
