On 4 June 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) opened the consultation on the draft regulations on supervision and administration of online trading platform rules until 4 July 2025. Under the draft regulations, e-commerce operators are required to take action against illegal and/or unethical business practices that occur on their platform, including the dissemination of harmful information. E-commerce operators are also forbidden from producing or disseminating illegal information themselves. Moreover, e-commerce platform operators must regulate conduct on their platform to comply with the Law on Protection of the Rights and Interests of Consumers, which includes consumer rights such as the right to assurances of product quality and the right to require information on features of a product, including but not limited to: expiration period, product grade, and instructions for use.
