Ofcom opened consultation on guidance on deceased child user duties

On 15 December 2025, Ofcom opened a consultation on its draft guidance on deceased child user duties until 23 March 2026. The draft guidance is addressed to providers of relevant services under the Online Safety Act regarding their obligations when responding to requests from parents of a deceased child user under section 75. Providers must carry clear terms of service regarding their policies about the disclosure of information in such cases, respond to parent requests in a timely fashion, and operate a complaints procedure.
