United States of America: Maryland General Assembly adopted Transportation Network Companies - Weekly Fare and Earnings Summary and Operator Data Reporting Act (HB 861)

On 7 April 2025, the Maryland General Assembly adopted the Transportation Network Companies - Weekly Fare and Earnings Summary and Operator Data Reporting Act (HB 861), which will enter into force on 1 January 2026 if signed by the Governor. This Act mandates transparency and reporting obligations for transportation network companies (TNCs) offering ride-hailing services via digital applications. In the final adopted version of the Act, TNCs must provide drivers, referred to as "operators," with a weekly summary of total fares collected by the TNC, fares earned by the operator, and information about additional fees charged and earned.
