Vietnam: Amendment to Law on Intellectual Property, including content moderation regulation was introduced to National Assembly

On 27 October 2025, the amendment to the Law on Intellectual Property (IP), including content moderation regulation, was introduced to the National Assembly. The amendment seeks to expand liability for intermediary service providers and managers of e-commerce platforms. The amendment applies to digital platforms and e-commerce businesses that host or facilitate online trade. The provisions deem intermediaries that fail to remove or disable infringing content upon the request of competent authorities as violators of trademark, trade name, and geographical indication rights. It requires e-commerce platform managers to comply with reporting duties, conduct IP rights inspections, and remove infringing goods or services within 24 hours of official notice.
