On 29 January 2026, the Competition Bureau closes the consultation on the anti-competitive conduct and agreements guidelines. The guidelines set out expectations for dominant firms to avoid conduct that substantially lessens competition and prohibit agreements that restrict market entry or limit competition. The draft also clarifies that suppliers must not refuse supply to competitors on usual trade terms and that price maintenance practices are not permitted. The Bureau may seek tribunal orders to stop such conduct, require asset divestitures, or impose administrative monetary penalties of up to CAD 35 million or three times the benefit gained from the violation.
