On 15 December 2025, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) closes the consultation on improving accessibility in broadcasting under the Online Streaming Act and Broadcasting Act. The proposal seeks to amend section 7.3 of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations, which requires licensees to provide accessible technology enabling persons with visual or motor disabilities to independently identify and access programming services. It seeks to extend similar obligations to online streaming services and certain exempt terrestrial broadcasting distribution undertakings with over 2'000 subscribers. It would require providers to offer accessible equipment, software, or technology enabling persons who are blind, partially sighted, or have fine motor disabilities to identify and access programming independently.
