Cyberspace Administration announced campaign on rectification of abnormal live-streaming tipping practices

On 26 October 2025, the Cyberspace Administration of China announced a special campaign on rectification of abnormal live-streaming tipping practices for a period of two months. The campaign's objective is to strengthen the online live broadcasting environment by addressing specific areas prone to tipping abuses. The campaign focuses on four issues, namely vulgar content and gameplay designed to entice rewards, the use of false personas, the inducement of minors to offer rewards, and the stimulation of irrational user rewards. Local cyberspace administrations are instructed to increase their enforcement efforts in relation to such tipping practices, while platforms are required to standardise their platform rules and improve rules around tipping.
