On 31 October 2025, the Directorate-General for Competition, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control (DGCCRF), a directorate of the Ministry of Economy, reported e-commerce provider SHEIN to the public prosecutor after finding listings for the sale of child-like sex dolls on its e-commerce site. Further, the DGCCRF found that no filtering measures had been put in place to limit the ability of minors to access pornographic content. The DGCCRF also reported its findings to the Regulatory Authority for Audiovisual and Digital Communication (ARCOM), the competent regulator, as well as SHEIN itself, urging the platform to implement appropriate measures. The DGCCRF noted that the penalties for the dissemination of child pornography via electronic communication networks include up to seven years imprisonment and a EUR 100'000 fine, and penalties for failing to implement effective filtering measures for general pornography include up to three years imprisonment and a EUR 75'000 fine.
