On 12 September 2025, the California Cybersecurity Integration Center: Artificial Intelligence was adopted by the California State Legislature following concurrence in Senate amendments and was ordered for engrossing and enrolling. The Bill amends Section 8586.5 of the Government Code to require the California Cybersecurity Integration Center, under the Office of Emergency Services, to develop, by 1 January 2027, the California Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cybersecurity Collaboration Playbook in consultation with the Office of Information Security and the Government Operations Agency. The playbook is intended to facilitate information sharing across the cyber and AI communities and strengthen collective cyber defences against emerging threats. It requires alignment with federal requirements, standards, and industry best practices, including the Joint Cyber Defence Collaborative AI Cybersecurity Collaboration Playbook, and includes confidentiality provisions for cyber threat indicators and defensive measures shared under the California Public Records Act.
