Vietnam: Ministry of Science and Technology opened consultation on Draft Law on Artificial Intelligence including prohibition of risky AI practices

On 29 September 2025, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST) opened a public consultation, until 20 October 2025, on the Draft Law on Artificial Intelligence. The draft Law prohibits unacceptably risky AI practices. These include manipulation causing harm, real-time remote biometric identification in public for law enforcement except under special legal authorisation, large-scale biometric databases, and emotion recognition in workplaces and education.
