On 6 October 2025, the European Commission opened a consultation as part of the evaluation of the Geo-blocking Regulation, open until 29 December 2026. The consultation aims to gather information on the regulation’s functioning, implementation, application, and enforcement within the single market, including issues related to territorial supply constraints and cross-border access to copyright-protected content. The results will contribute to the Commission’s ongoing evaluation, with a broader public consultation planned for the second quarter of 2025. In force since December 2018, the EU Geo-blocking Regulation prohibits unjustified restrictions based on nationality, residence, or establishment within the EU, ensuring equal access to goods and services online and supporting fair competition in e-commerce.
