Description

European Commission closes consultation on evaluation of Geo-Blocking Regulation

On 29 December 2026, the European Commission (EC) closes the consultation as part of the evaluation of the Geo-blocking Regulation. The consultation aims to gather information on the regulation’s functioning, implementation, application, and enforcement within the single market, including issues related to territorial supply constraints and cross-border access to copyright-protected content. The results will contribute to the Commission’s ongoing evaluation, with a broader public consultation planned for the second quarter of 2025. In force since December 2018, the EU Geo-blocking Regulation prohibits unjustified restrictions based on nationality, residence or establishment within the EU, ensuring equal access to goods and services online and supporting fair competition in e-commerce.
