United Kingdom: Office of Communications opened investigation into Trendio's compliance with age assurance obligations under Online Safety Act

On 31 July 2025, the Office of Communications (Ofcom) opened a formal compliance investigation into Trendio Ltd under the age assurance provisions of the Online Safety Act. The scope of the investigation includes evaluating whether Trendio Ltd has deployed highly effective age assurance solutions across its pornography websites in accordance with the statutory requirements that entered into force on 25 July 2025. The provider was prioritised for enforcement by Ofcom based on its relative user volume and the potential risk of harm, with its services forming part of a broader group of 34 websites receiving over 9 million unique monthly UK visits collectively.
