On 21 July 2025, the regulation governing Government Digital Tokens (G-Tokens) issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission entered into force. G-Tokens, issued by the Ministry of Finance as government borrowing instruments under the Public Debt Management Act, are recognised as a new type of digital asset under the Digital Asset Business Act. The SEC exempts G-Tokens from requiring offering permissions, prospectus filings, and licensing for digital asset or securities business operators specifically related to G-Token activities. The criteria also establish standards for customer service, data handling, price disclosure, and operational requirements for digital asset exchanges dealing with G-Tokens.
