On 22 February 2021, Bill 1327 was introduced to the Minnesota Senate. The Act represents the Senate companion of the Bill introduced in the House of Representatives as File 1184, on 18 February 2021. The act would prohibit App stores from requiring developers to use specific app stores or in-app payment systems. Furthermore, app stores would be prohibited from disadvantaging developers which choose a different app store or payment method. Violations of these rules will be prosecuted through the attorney general under section 8.31 of the Minnesota Statutes 2020.
