Entry into force with grace period of Amendment of the Regulation on Consumer Rights in the Electronic Communication Sector

The Turkish Information Technologies and Communication Authority (ITCA) published the Amendment of the Regulation on Consumer Rights in the Electronic Communication Sector in the Official Gazette. Firstly, the amendment introduces additional provisions on the information of consumers, facilitating the clarity and the comparability of different business offers. Secondly, the amendment allows subscription agreements to be executable in electronic format and details requirements for the operators' storage of information on the execution of the subscription agreement. Thirdly, the amendment introduces requirements about tariffs' clarity, consent for transactions and notifications for consumers. Finally, the amendment specifies the criteria to suspend users from a certain subscription contract. The amendment will enter into force on 31 December 2022.
