Vietnam: Data Law (No. 60/2024/QH15) including data protection authority governance entered into force

On 1 July 2025, the Data Law (No. 60/2024/QH15), including data protection authority governance, entered into force, in accordance with the date specified in Article 45 of the Law. The law specifies that the Ministry of Public Security is responsible for leading the implementation of the law, managing data protection, and establishing the National Data Centre. Various ministries are responsible for supporting these activities. The National Data Center is managed by the Ministry of Public Security and is tasked with integrating, storing, sharing, and analysing national data. It ensures that data is available for government use, supports policymaking, and provides data services across various government sectors. The Center is also responsible for data security and protecting sensitive information.
