Vietnam: Opened consultation on draft Data Law (No. 2025/QH15) including data protection authority governance

On 1 July 2024, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) opened a public consultation on the draft Data Law (No. 2025/QH15) including data protection authority until 1 September 2024. This consultation focuses on the proposed structure, responsibilities, and powers of the authority in overseeing data protection laws, including the enforcement of data processing standards and the handling of data breaches. The Ministry of Public Security is responsible for leading the implementation of the law, managing data protection, and establishing the National Data Centre. Various ministries are responsible for supporting these activities.
