European Union: European Commission approved Zalando's acquisition of About You

On 1 July 2025, the European Commission approved, under the EU Merger Regulation, Zalando SE’s acquisition of sole control over ABOUT YOU. The transaction concerns the online fashion retail sector and follows a notification submitted on 22 May 2025 and formally acknowledged by the Commission on 28 May 2025. Following a preliminary review, the Commission concluded that the merger would not raise competition concerns due to its limited market impact and the continued availability of alternative retailers for both consumers and brands. The case was assessed under the standard merger procedure, including a call for third-party observations. The unconditional approval allows Zalando to proceed with the full integration of About You.
