United Kingdom: Office of Communications closes consultation on additional safety measures for online platforms

On 20 October 2025, the Office of Communications (Ofcom) closes its consultation on additional safety measures for online platforms. The consultation, which was opened on 30 June 2025, sought input on proposed measures to enhance online safety. These measures include improving livestreaming protections, employing proactive technologies for content detection, and implementing stricter age assurance mechanisms. The aim is to address risks associated with illegal content, such as terrorism, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and content encouraging suicide or self-harm. Feedback from stakeholders, including service providers and civil society organisations, will be considered.
