On 14 June 2025, the National Assembly of Vietnam adopted the Digital Technology Industry Law. The law establishes the National Committee for the Promotion of the Digital Technology Industry as the organisation responsible for directing and coordinating the resolution of matters related to cooperation, investment, and the implementation of projects and programmes to promote the development of the digital technology industry. The law designates the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) to issue ethical guidelines for the development, deployment, and application of AI. Furthermore, the MIC provides guidelines on the labelling of digital technology products created by AI. The MIC also issues technical regulations and mandates the application of international, regional, foreign, and national standards in digital technology industry activities. Finally, the MIC provides guidance on risk level classification and defines the measures, obligations, and responsibilities required to mitigate risks associated with AI systems at each level.
