China: Cyberspace Administration adopted the Administrative Measures for Generative Artificial Intelligence Services including design requirement

On 10 July 2023, the Chinese Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) adopted the Interim Measures for the Management of Generative Artificial Intelligence Services to regulate the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) within China. The measures apply to the use of generative AI technology to provide services for the generation of text, pictures, audio, and video content to the public within Chinese territory. The measures require that while conducting data labelling for generative AI development, providers must establish clear and practical labelling rules, assess and verify labelling quality, train personnel on legal compliance, and supervise their work. Additionally, they must label generated content including images and videos in line with the Regulations on the Management of Deep Synthesis of Internet Information Services.
